Lower Columbia College is an even better bargain this fall. In addition to no tuition increase, students can save an average of 60% with a new textbook rental program and can commute to campus for free under an LCC agreement with RiverCities Transit.
New Textbook Rental Program
LCC students should realize significant savings by renting textbooks they do not plan to keep after completing a course. The average savings is about 60%, according to Cliff Hicks, new LCC Bookstore manager. About 50% of textbooks required for fall quarter classes will be available on a rental basis.
To rent a book, students only need to give their Student ID # and a valid debit or credit card at the LCC Bookstore. They will receive an email with the order confirmation and return information. A good supply of rental books has been stocked. However, if the supply runs out, students can rent books through the LCC website and the book will be shipped to the store within five days.
Students Ride the Bus Free!
The free transit pass program, negotiated with RiverCities Transit this summer, allows LCC students and staff to ride buses at no cost during all operational hours for the service, Monday through Saturday. RiverCities Transit has also restructured a number of routes to minimize wait times and travel time to the campus. Peak service routes #31 and #32 are now scheduled to stop near the campus every half hour.
In addition to saving fuel costs, students won’t have to complete for campus parking or walk from off campus. Students simply need to show their LCC Student ID card to ride. Cards and bus schedules are available downstairs in the LCC Student Center.
