LCC's Gamma Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, lively fellowship for scholars, and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
Membership is open to students who have had at least a 3.5 gpa at any given time and who maintain a 3.0 gpa thereafter.
In recent years, the Gamma Tau chapter has twice placed among the top three teams at the All-American Academic competition.
