Arrive 15 minutes early!

Valid ID required

Bring a valid government issued photo ID. This is very important: no government issued photo ID, no testing — no exceptions!

Travel light!

Nothing else besides your government issued ID, is necessary for testing. If examinees choose to use their own calculator they must provide a TI-30xs. No other calculators will be accepted.

All other items must be stored in a locker. We will provide you with a locker key to store these items. Friends and family must wait outside the testing room (in the Admissions Center lobby).

Time limits

Each part of the GED exam has their own time limit. Please see the table below to see how much time is allowed for each exam.

What's on the Test?

Test Time
Mathematical Reasoning 115 mins
Science 90 mins
Social Studies 90 mins
Reasoning through Language Arts 150 mins (10 min break)

Did I pass?

You need to earn at least 150 points on each subject to pass. Max score is 200. To pass with “honors” you need to receive a score of 170 – 200. Scores will be posted 1-2 days after testing at GED.com.

Students get two $10 retakes per subject if taken 12 months after the initial test. Students can retest 3 times on the same subject without waiting, and after the third attempt they must wait 60 days before trying again.
