Former Devil to Coach in MLB All-Star Game
Buddy Black has been named to the coaching staff for the National League in the upcoming MLB All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.  NL Manager Clint Hurdle named Black and Cubs Manager Lou Piniella to the staff.  Black is the Manager of the San Diego Padres.

Ocbina a Red Devil
Wilson HS 3rd baseman Chaz Ocbina has signed to play for the 2009 Red Devils. The lefty hitter is playing summer ball for the Triple Play Hornets.

Red Devil pitcher Conor Spink has some interesting quotes in a story in the Anchorage Daily News.

Devils Snare Webb
Ephrata infielder Derrick Webb has signed a letter of intent to join the LCC baseball team this fall. The multi sport athlete is playing this summer for the River Dogs of Moses Lake.

D'Oh! Devils sign Simpson
LCC has recieved a letter of intent from Matt Simpson of Mountain View HS in Vancouver. The catcher/infielder was a team captain and MVP of the Thunder.

Poitner Signs
Roseburg Oregon HS star Brett Poitner is the latest to sign a letter-of-intent to play ball for LCC. Poitner has a live arm and will join the Devil pitching staff this fall.

Giants Draft Lindsley
The San Francisco Giants picked Red Devil shortstop Brooks Lindsley (below) in the 18th round of the 2008 MLB Draft. Brooks has signed with the Giants and is playing for Salem-Keizer of the Northwest League.

White Sox Tab Merry
The Chicago White Sox selected former Red Devil pitcher Jorden Merry (below) in the 14th round of the 2008 MLB Draft. Merry just completed his junior season as the top pitcher for the Washington Huskies.

Devil Recruit Drafted
LCC recruit Matt Lokken of St. Helens High School was drafted in the 34th round by the Florida Marlins. Lokken will forego his scholarship at LCC and has signed with the Marlins. Read it in The Daily News.

Coach Hippi's Summer
Red Devil pitching coach Rob Hippi will again lead the staff of the Wenatchee Apple Sox in the WCCBL. Read the story in the Wenatchee World.

Tough Loss for LCC
The Edmonds Tritons defeated the LCC Red Devils 6-4 in the final game of the 2008 NWAACC Baseball Championships. Edmonds earlier Monday beat the Devils 4-3 in 13 innings to force the winner take all final game. Read the Daily News story. Mead Star Coming to LCC
Mead High School outfielder Tyler Thoreson has signed a letter of intent to play for the Devils in 09. Thoreson is a lefty hitting outfielder with good speed.

Liberty Star Signs
The Devils recieved a letter of intent from Liberty HS pitcher Tim Culligan. Culligan has an easy delivery and has been clocked at 90 MPH. Pitching coach Rob Hippi is excited about the Culligan Man!

Lewis County Duo to LCC
Tenino HS lefthander Alex Phillips and W.F. West HS pitcher Levi Dean have both signed letters-of-intent to play baseball for LCC. Check out the story in The Chronicle.

Mooney Coming to LCC
Pitching coach Rob Hippi has announced that Lake Oswego right hander Craig Mooney has signed on to pitch for the Red Devils. Mooney has a great upside and already features a full arsenal with pitchability. He is the son of BioForce Baseball Academy founder Bill Mooney.

Code Red: Garner Signs
LCC has recieved a letter of intent from Junction City star Cody Garner. The powerful first baseman will provide home run potential for the 2009 Red Devils.

Rocket Man Signs
Castle Rock High School star Drew Pettit has signed his letter of intent to join the Red Devils. The lefthanded pitcher is the ace of a talented Rocket staff.

Travis Rush
of Mariner High School In Everett is the latest prep standout to sign a letter of intent to play for the Red Devils in 2009. Joining Rush in 2009 is infielder Chris Pierce of Kalama HS, Danny Jordan of University High School in Spokane, catcher Ben Grubb of Sequim HS and Port Angeles HS star Eric Lane.

DEVILS TAKE NEXT STEP
Devils moving on to four-year colleges and universities include Shawn Peterson, De'Andre Wheeler and Rye Phillips at Western Oregon, Bas Nooij and Chad Wagner at Hawaii-Pacific, Ryan Graves at Central Washington, Brian Erickson at Lewis-Clark State, Ben Rosen at College of Idaho, and Luke Zirkle to Bellevue-Nebraska.  Several others players have yet to decide which offer to accept.

San Diego Padres manager Bud Black played two seasons for LCC in 1976 and 1977.
