Head Coach Tim Mackin
Tim took over the program in 1993, after being Head Fastpitch Coach at Mark Morris High School from 1989-92. During his tenure at Lower Columbia College, Mackin has an overall record of 543-127 with a league mark of 354-76. During this 17 period, the Lady Devil’s have been perennial contenders for the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) championship. They have qualified for the post-season tournament every year with nine Championships (1994, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, 2005, 2007) and two-second place finishes (1993, and 1995). Coach Mackin has been honored as “Coach of the Year” nine times.

In addition to his coaching, Tim has a long and distinguished playing career in fastpitch. He toured with the world-renowned four-man fastpitch team, “The King and his Court” for six years from 1984 through 1989, and still holds the single season home run record of 326. Tim also played on some of the top Northwest men’s fastpitch teams, and has garnered numerous “All American” honors as a catcher and best hitting awards. His most recent accomplishment was being named All American while playing for an over 40 masters team “The Legends” which won back-to-back National Championships in 1995-96.

Coach Mackin’s many connections with four year college programs throughout the country gives LCC ladies a great opportunity to move on with their playing careers. One of Coach Mackin’s top priorities is to help his athletes pursue their softball dreams at the next level.

Dani Terry, Assistant
Dani Terry is an invaluable member of the LCC staff.  Her credentials as LCC pitching coach include membership in the Tennesee Sports Hall of Fame.  At Chattanooga State, Dani still holds numerous pitching records and was honored as the Tennessee Player of the Year two years straight.  Terry pitched for Team USA in the 1997 World Games, collecting a gold medal.  Her numerous international experience included being a part of teams featuring names like Lisa Fernandez, Dot Richardson and Jenny Finch.  Terry played her high school ball at Mark Morris HS in Longview where she was named a Prep All-American two years.  Lower Columbia College is fortunate to have a great coach and teacher with such incredible softball credentials.

Brent Harris, Assistant
Harris played three years of varsity baseball at Hudson Bay HS in Vancouver.  After high school, Brent played on the men’s fast pitch circuit. He attended Clark College where he got his degree in Criminal Justice. Brent is now a deputy sheriff for Cowlitz County.  He is the K-9 officer with his partner “Nitro”. Brent began coaching girls fast pitch with his two daughters. Both are  now playing for Kelso HS. He also coaches a 16 “A” team in the summer. Coach Mackin says Brent has what it takes to move into the College coaching world.

Scott Hemberry, Assistant
Scott is in his first season as an Assistant with the Red Devils.  He and his wife, Nikki, recently moved to Longview with their four daughters. He spent the past 4 seasons as the Head Softball Coach at Liberty High School in Spangle, Washington where he compiled a record of 83-22, winning two League titles, one District title, and appearing in the State Tournament twice.  He was named Coach of the Year in 2007.  Before that he spent 6 seasons as the Head Softball Coach at Fruitland High School in Fruitland, Idaho.  Scott played college baseball at Central College in McPherson, Kansas.
