Are you a displaced homemaker?
You could be eligible for Worker Retraining help to attend college if you:
- Have been providing unpaid services to a family member(s) in the home AND
- Are dependent on the income of another family member, but are not longer supported by that income AND
- Are unemployed or underemployed, as defined by the Southwest Washington Development Council demand/not in demand" list
To qualify for Worker Retraining financial aid, you'll need to:
- Sign a statement, self-certifying that you meet the above definition of displaced homemaker.
- Verify your dependence on the income of another family member. You could use tax documents that list your occupation and that of the other family member, showing that the bulk of income was earned by the other family member
- Verify your change in living arrangements (within the last 24 months) by submitting court documents, attorney's statements, or a document from another person who can certify your change of living arrangements.
