Apprenticeships and internships are two different approaches to job training and work experience. Apprenticeships are arranged through participating employers, which offer education and training through a state apprenticeship program. Internships provide work-experience for students already in a college career training or transfer degree program.
Internships (Cooperative Education)
LCC offers its students Cooperative Education college credit for work experience in dozens of fields. In fact, many Applied Arts degrees (and LCC's Individualized Certificate Program) require Cooperative Education experience. For more information on Cooperative Education--a partnership between LCC students, faculty and employers--please contact Barbara Schoeffler, 360.442.2332.
Apprenticeships
LCC is a partner in Washington’s Registered Apprentice System. Apprenticeships combine employment, education, and training in one workforce program.
For more information on apprenticeships, check out the Department of Labor and Industries website or contact them at 360.575.6927.
If you're interested in an apprenticeship and have questions about apprenticeships the college supports, please contact Dean for Workforce Development Brendan Glaser at (360) 442-2651.
