If you've lost your financial aid due to extraordinary circumstance such as illness, injury, death of a relative, or other circumstances, which prevented you from meeting SAP, you may submit an appeal.

If your appeal is approved, your financial aid will be reinstated in a probationary status at the time the appeal was approved. You new award will be based on available funding at the time of reinstatement and may not be the same as the original award. You may also have to meet certain conditions as part of the approval.

To submit an appeal

Obtain the Appeal Form (along with explanation of procedural requirements) in the Financial Aid office. Fill out and return it to the Financial Aid office. Appeals are reviewed monthly by the Appeal Committee. Students will be notified of the committee's decision by mail.

How appeals work

If the Appeal Committee approves your appeal, your financial aid will be reinstated in a probationary status at the time the appeal was approved. You new award will be based on available funding at the time of reinstatement and may not be the same as the original award. You may also have to meet certain conditions, as as specified by the Appeal Committee. If you do not meet these conditions, your financial aid will be suspended.

The appeal process cannot be used if a student owes a repayment of student aid funds, is in default on a student loan, or for Warning Status. Quarterly appeal deadlines apply, please plan accordingly.

Students may also appeal for Max Time Frame (MTF) and additional degrees.
