Lower Columbia College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education.
State Approving Agency
The academic programs of study are approved by the Higher Education Coordinating Board's State Approving Agency (HECB/SAA) for enrollment of persons eligible to receive educational benefits under Title 38 and Title 10, U.S. Code.
New Accreditation Standards
In 2010 the NWCC adopted new Accreditation Standards and a revised timeline for reporting and campus visitation. The new model includes four reports and two visits during a seven-year cycle.
The old model consisted of an interim report and visit in year five, with a full report and visit in year ten.
The new standard retains all the elements of the old model with a greatly increased focus on using assessment results to make improvements.
