Why offer out-of-class testing?
Classroom instructional time is increased by using the proctoring center. Text anxiety is reduced for students by providing a quiet, peaceful, environment free of most classroom time constraints and underlying pressures.
What types of testing are offered?
- Out-of-class testing: An instructor schedules all tests for a class in the proctoring center over a window of time of at least three to five days, thereby increasing class instruction time.
- Make-up testing: Students who miss tests in classes may take them with instructor permission and under their guidelines in the proctoring center.
- E-learning testing: Internet and telecourse students take tests here under the same conditions. For students taking classes at other colleges and universities there is a $10.00 fee for the service.

Guidelines for How to Use Test Proctoring Services
Exam Time Limitations
- Unless otherwise arranged through the Test Proctoring Supervisor, you should provide a three to five-day time period when your students can take the exam.
- Exams are set up with time limitations and are monitored by the student taking the exam. Testing staff will record the time started and stopped only.
Space Limitations
You may not send an entire class to the center at one time. There is not space enough to accommodate that many students. Testing service is not in lieu of class time.
Cover Sheet Needed with Exams
All exams administered in the test proctoring center must have a cover sheet. Samples of cover sheets are found on the link to forms. Forms are located in the Learning Center or in the Office of Instruction mailroom.
How to Submit an Exam
- Exams must be brought to Main 128 during test proctoring center open hours and filed appropriately by the faculty.
- For security reasons, exams cannot be sent via interoffice mail.
- Instructors should keep exam set up simple. Have your name, the course name and number and each student's name on the exam. This will help ensure quick and accurate check-in for students.
Cheating
In the event a student is suspected of cheating, faculty instructions on the cover sheet will be implemented. It is the responsibility of the instructor to handle the consequences of the event.
Student Guidelines & Hours
Faculty should make sure all students using the test proctoring center are aware of student guidelines and hours. Copies may be reproduced and distributed to students.
