Lower Columbia College offers unique ensembles, diverse courses and commitment to musical excellence. Both traditional and non-traditional students can explore affordable, individualized music education and performance opportunities for personal enrichment, professional development and career preparation. Rose Center for the Arts

The Rose Center for the Arts features a 500 seat auditorium, rehearsal hall, art gallery, theater, lecture hall, classrooms, faculty offices and expansive lobby. Fir and cherry wood paneling enhance the aesthetics and acoustics, along with state of the art variable acoustics, sound systems and lighting. In 2007 lifelong local music lovers Ken and Pat Hanson donated a Bosendorfer Imperial Grand Piano to the college, only one of three such pianos in the state.

Symphonic Band

Performing an exciting array of music from many genres, the LCC Symphonic Band is an auditioned ensemble comprised of 50-60 music students and community members.

A 20 piece big band comprised of music students and community members, the Jazz Ensemble performs a fun and exciting repertoire of jazz classics. In addition to regular concerts each term, the Jazz Ensemble often performs at college and community events.

Southwest Washington Symphony

Students may audition to enroll for credit in this fully appointed symphony orchestra which rehearses and performs standard symphonic literature. See Southwest Washington Symphony.

Chamber Music

Available to wind, brass, and string musicians, chamber music ensembles are non-auditioned and receive regular coaching, offering excellent experience in performance skills.

In LCC ensembles, music students play alongside accomplished musicians from the community, including current and former members of:

LCC's auditioned chamber ensemble comprised of anywhere from 15-30 students. The group performs literature ranging from Vivaldi to Queen.

Show Choir

LCC's newest addition, is a select group ranging in size from 12-16 students. Members of this ensemble must have both singing and moderate dancing abilities. This ensemble performs primarily Broadway/Pop style music.

Bella Voce

LCC's premier auditioned a cappella octet, which is featured in every concert, and performs specialty events throughout the year.

Community Choir

The largest vocal ensemble on campus with approximately 30-40 members is comprised of both outstanding community and student members from local area. They have even been seen singing telegrams on Valentine' Day, in flash mobs and participating in recruiting and publicity stunts across town.
