Share Your America!
LCC's Host Family Program is seeking qualified families who have a strong interest in hosting and interacting with international students. Our emphasis is on providing students and families an opportunity for cultural exchange.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Director of International Student Programs
Living and studying abroad is a wonderful way to expand our thinking about the world and our appreciation for one another. As a first-generation American, I grew up in a multi-cultural family where six different languages were spoken. Having traveled to many countries, I have an understanding of the things that international students experience when they come to study in the U.S.
The opportunity to learn is a wonderful gift and I am always interested in learning something new. I have a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and master’s degree in education.
What are you interested in learning? At LCC, you will find friendly and helpful faculty and staff who are dedicated to your success.
"I look forward to meeting you!" --Margit
Sandie St. Onge
International Admissions Coordinator and Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Success
I receive your completed application package from Margit and issue your I-20 form so you may go to your Consulate to be interviewed for an F-1 Student Visa. I also verify and report your status to the Department of Homeland Security through the SEVIS system while you are studying at Lower Columbia College.
I look forward to meeting you, adding your official I-94, endorsed I-20 forms and welcome photo to our international student files, and to attending your commencement ceremony at the completion of your studies at Lower Columbia College.
I am very glad that you are interested in attending Lower Columbia College!" --Sandie
International English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor
My last year of high school, I had the opportunity to live in a foreign country and go to school, so I have deep understanding of what it takes to live in a new country and learn the language. The experience of living overseas grew in me a lifelong interest in other cultures and peoples around the world.
My goal as your teacher is to build bridges between languages, peoples and cultures. I want to encourage students when they are nervous, laugh with students when they understand humor in English, and teach the confidence and skills students need to continue their education in a U.S. college. I have a bachelor's degree in Norwegian and a master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
I am a native of Turkmenistan and spent time studying in Ukraine before coming to America in 2009. I began my studies at LCC by enrolling in the English program. Now I am working toward a pre-med degree and I plan to transfer to the University of Washington. I work as a math, chemistry and anatomy tutor on campus and I also work as an office assistant for International Programs.
In my spare time, I like to do photography and I recently had a photograph published in “The Salal Review” LCC’s literary and arts magazine.
"I look forward to helping you feel at home at LCC." --Azamat
