Earn college credit for work experience!
Cooperative Education provides students the opportunity test out a career prior to investing in a training program, and to obtain work experience prior to graduating. Some programs of study—such as Accounting, Chemical Dependency Studies, Computer Science and Fire Science—require Cooperative Education credit to graduate.
Students can earn up to 15 Cooperative Education credits toward a degree program for prior work experience. The job may be paid or unpaid. Work-study jobs may qualify.
How to Enroll
Students need permission from an instructor in their field of study together with the Work Based Learning Manager.
Contact the Work Based Learning Manager for more information, including:
- Learning objectives
- Employer agreements
- Progress reviews
- Quarterly deadlines
Students need to have completed 9 credits of program-required courses in their field of study and have at least a 2.0 GPA.
Make an appointment with a career specialist in the Career Center to go over your resume and find an internship placement.
The Career Center is also an excellent resource for researching careers and finding job openings. See Career Center.
College Central Network
Research and apply for available positions through College Central Network, LCC's job search network connecting local employers with students, alumni and community members. When you upload your resume, a career specialist will review it and you'll be notified about recommended changes.
