English (Reading & Writing) Practice

The English placement tests determine your English course placement. The tests are untimed, standardized, multiple-choice assessments done on the computer.

What's on the test?

Reading

Helps determine if you have the reading skills necessary to succeed in a standard entry, college-level course. It is a multiple-choice test that evaluates reading comprehension, vocabulary, and reader profile.

Writing

Requires students to find and correct errors in usage and mechanics, including basic grammar, punctuation and sentence structure, and rhetorical skills, including strategy, organization and style. It is a multiple choice test.

Visit the Testing Center if you need paper-based practice.

Practice Tests

These interactive reading and writing tests were designed by the University of North Georgia (UNG). Along with reading and writing practice simulations, the website has grammar tutorials and other useful tools.
