Who can enroll in Transitional Studies?
Students who are at least 16 years old, are not enrolled in a public school, and who are U.S. citizens, immigrants, permanent residents or refugees.
What is Transitional Studies?
The Transitional Studies Department offers basic skills classes designed to prepare students for success in entry-level college courses and beyond. Students receive advising, orientation, instruction, and support geared towards their success in college. Through this assistance, underprepared students build skills in reading, writing, math, study skills, and college orientation. They also build confidence in their academic success.
Where is Transitional Studies?
The Transitional Studies Office is located in the Vocational Building, Room 159. Call 360.442.2580 or stop by to make an appointment Monday-Thursday 8am-7:30pm or Friday 8am-5:00pm.
When can I start?
Before enrolling in Transitional Studies courses, students must take a CASAS appraisal to ensure they begin studies at the level that matches their current skills in reading, writing and math.
Why should I enroll in Transitional Studies?
Because is never too late to learn to read, do math, or learn English!

Programs and Services
ABE - Adult Basic Education
For those 16 years or older who need to review or learn basic skills for college entrance, employment, or preparation for the General Education Development (GED) exam.
ESL - English as a Second Language
Low cost classes to help non-English-speaking adult immigrants learn English skills. The program emphasizes work, life and communication skills.
GED - General Education Development
LCC is an official GED testing center. Students who did not finish high school may earn high school credentials by taking this series of five tests.
I-BEST - Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training
Students can earn a certificate in a high-demand career while earning college credits towards a degree.
I-TRANS - Integrated Transitional Studies
One to three-quarter program allowing students to achieve more than one level of English or math in a single quarter.
