Frequently-Asked Questions

What kind of courses will I take?

In addition to general education courses such as industrial math and communications, you will complete a variety of courses specific to the field of welding. Topics such as blueprint reading, arc welding , welding theory and fabrication, and wire machine welding are included in LCC's program.

Are there any special requirements for this program?

Welding students must successfully complete the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) qualification test before a degree Welding Technology will be issued. Student must also be able to pass the Washington State Welding exam upon completion of the program.

How do I know if welding is the right field for me?

Welding is a rewarding, but demanding, field. If you have good mechanical skills, a good imagination, enjoy working on a team, and are self-disciplined and patient, welding may be right for you.

Who will hire me?

Welders work in a variety of industries including manufacturing, ship building, automotive, and construction. Skilled welders may also work for federal, state or local governments.
